Freestylers ft Laura Steel - Falling

'Falling' is the third cut from the Freestylers new album 'The Coming Storm.' It's hauntingly beautiful and melancholic bass echoes their 2011 single 'Cracks' - which was the biggest Dubstep tune of the year.    The jump up drums and drumstep FX are punctuated by the atmospherically visceral vocals of Laura Steel.

On their Original version, ‘Falling’s early light-box atmospherics fade fast into whip-quick two-step snares & kicks, snapping rim-shot percussion recoil and speaker reaping distortion. Subbing up the LFO, ‘Falling’ walks the line between the viscera of its floor-capitalising jump-up drums, and the bravura of its cultured, darkly beautiful and moody bass. As the drumstep FX burns, Laura Steel’s vocal brings the track its coup-de-grace moment, sealing ‘Falling’s lightning into the bottle.

Taking the track to stylistic spaces far and wide, Stanton Warriors, AfterHours and Wickaman marshal to deliver ‘Falling’ some speaker-kicking reworks.
Firing their treatment up with chunky tribal house drums and loud, echoing percussion, through a mid-mix skim of the pitch-wheel, the Stantons’ skew ‘Falling’ back into break-beat terrain. Using its immersive opening pads & chords to underpin Laura’s vocals in the break, at the top of the drop they cut, chop & loop them to dizzyingly infectious effect.

Carving out a soulful, late-into-the-night vibe for the track, the AfterHours crew brings ‘Falling’ some deeper house juice. Playing perfectly off Laura’s vocals, through its Todd Terry-like beats and subby London Town bass, it’ll prove an irresistible tonic for Disclosure and Duke Dumont heads alike.
Recalibrating ‘Falling’ to its Original drum ’n’ bass theme, UK fast-riser Wickaman seizes the remix controls. Blowing up the tempo, he plies his mix with ram-raiding beats, swerving, mass event FX, renegade distortion and Laura’s outstanding vocals to create some seriously dark sonic matter.
Be it house, breaks or drum & bass, there’s a mix here for you. ‘Falling' drops Jan 13th.

@AdreynCashMusic.

Adreyn Cash’s avatarTaken from Adreyn’s debut E.P. “Rich Girls don’t Marry Poor Boys”, ‘Anthem’ is a teaser of what to expect from Cash! As empowering as its name suggests, “Anthem” showcases Adreyn Cash’s musical identity and future pathway, fused effortlessly with deep soul sounds, for a cultivating emotive experience for the listener.

Adreyn Cash’s sound consists of a smooth blend of emotion and fear, projecting music that is alternative: dark, but by no means depressing. “I create music that people can listen and relate to, but also music that reaches out to the person within, the one whom we hide from the masses, my music is the voice for the hidden ‘us’.”

Currently residing in London, but originally from Kingston (of Taino descent), growing up, Adreyn found himself in and around music from an early age. A strong musical heritage consisting of reggae artists RDX, Eric Donaldson and the all-important presence of his mother, meant becoming a musician was an easy choice, but by no means easy!

Ad Brown & Shawn Mitiska - Pulse

@blackholerec - Black Hole 609-0

With ‘Ready And Waiting’ leading its single release charge, his long-player debut ‘Something For The Pain’ has brought a cornucopia of new Ad Brown studio material to DJs, clubbers and music lovers. For its second foray, the young Londoner has reached across the Pond to team up with LA-based trance wunderkind Shawn Mitiska. Together they have conjured the sophisticated instrumental sonics of ‘Pulse’.

With a contingent of both established and new blood remixers on board, further passaging ‘Pulse’ to places house, progressive and beyond, December 23rd sees ‘Something’s second play land.

In its Original Mix form ‘Pulse’ delivers a gliding, thrilling, to-the-dawn trance-progressive ride. With a precision built production engine that dynamically threads together throbbing drums, super-crisp percussion and rolling bass, it builds its atmospheric tension high before emptying out into its harmonic, filmic, chasm-ing drop.
Ushering it onto peak time floors, Ali Wilson redrafts ‘Pulse’ as one of his inimitable, formidable TEKELEC Remixes. Upping the tempo and uplifting the tone, through cantering drums, propulsive, subby bass and rhapsodic mainlines, he generates auditory updraft through its high-rise synths.

Further in, and throwing some deeper hues under ‘Pulse’, Holland’s Jaap Ligthart uproot's the track from it's trance base and replant it in housier spaces. Injecting no small degree of groove into its system, Ligthart fashions his Deep Mix with funkier drums, liquid cool melodies and hot-tropic b-lines to deliver a wonderful afterhours vibe for ‘Pulse’.

Offering up a secondary version for ‘Pulse’, Jaap’s Remix brilliantly summons inky-black techno-leaning metropolitan-ism. Making maximum stock of Brown & Mitiska’s ethereally charged lead line and the gentle indolence of it piano lines, it ties off a 360° remix package.

Sean Tyas & Noah Neiman with Fisher - Lose My Logic

@blackholerec - Black Hole 611-0

What can be expected when a hot up-&-comer and a trance titan are paired with the heavenly vocals of one of the most adored singers in trance and progressive ? The answer is 'unpredictable.'

In less than stereotypical fashion, "Lose My Logic" combines the talents of Sean Tyas, Noah Neiman, and Fisher into an unprecedented musical expedition. Like any other Sean Tyas record, this tune begins with a bang, yet incorporates a bassline not typical of his usual style. A touch of rage is added when electro-trance up-&-comer Noah Neiman enters the picture, while the sensual vocals of Fisher transcends listeners to a different kind of state of trance.

"Lose My Logic" marks Tyas' debut on Black Hole Recordings, and the return to prominence of singer/songwriter, Fisher. While Noah Neiman is known for several trance top 10 hits, such as "They Have Laser Eyes [Lange Recordings]," this release proves a new chapter for all three acts has just begun.

Bal

Honey - directed by Semih Kaplanoğlu. A Turkish film about a boy and his mother searching for his father.. The way of filming and overall atmosphere is quite strange in an interesting way  The quietest scenes are the ones with most effect, you work your way through the usual day routines, look past those and find yourself looking closer, deeper into their emotions. It's dark and quiet, and completely intriguing.. It ends bluntly yet powerfully.

A Town Called Panic

A Belgian stop-motion animation following villagers in this little adventure. The cowboy is named Cowboy, the Indian is named Indian and of course the horse is named Horse! This is such a quaint dear film, with slapstick humour and quite an odd storyline. Peculiar may be the word, very interesting and amusing, and above all light-hearted.

Co-directors, Stéphane Aubier & Vincent Patar were asked were their inspiration came from..

Vincent Patar: "From any and everything around us that we find amusing! Something we see walking down the street, a photo in the newspaper, etc. It’s the little details of daily life that nourish our work."

Stéphane Aubier: "What you see in A Town Called Panic is a good indication of what we've always set out to do. By using a relatively simple setting and a standard but versatile technique, we have total freedom to create a world of our own."
